1st Valentine Flowers

Our eldest daughter Valerie, who is only 14 this year, received her 1st bouquet of flowers today for Valentine.  As parents, how should we respond? I feel like is a reminder that she is growing up!

She was pretty cool about it but her younger sister was going gaga for her for a little while. Her mother, on the hand, was grinning a bit!

Whoever the sender is, thank you for the nice gesture and good luck!

My Dream

My dream

My dream is to see my wife knowing and acknowledging God in her every day life. I dream to see her free of the burdens of her heart and mind. That she would be reconciled with her adopted family and her natural parents and siblings.

My dream is to see my Mum and dad knowing and accepting Jesus as their personal savior.

My dream to see both my daughters have Jesus as the center of their life. That they would be successful in their chosen careers and that they would meet God fearing companions and their life partners would be God loving and fearing men.

Personally, I would like to be able to build our house on the Greenhihte Land we bought in 2010 and then we would be debt free within the next 10 years. And I would be able to go on a world tour with Sherene and going to places that we could only see on TV today.  Perhaps taking a nice long drive with Sherene in the United States from coast to coast.

I would also like to be able to play a role in God's Kindgom especially in the market place. I want Jesus to be the center of my life. I admired Abraham, Noah, Joseph, Joshua, Caleb and especially Apostle Paul. I like them and want to be like them because they trusted God regardless of the circumstances they were in. I don't think I have the strength and encourage to be like Job but certainly his attitude towards God is something I like to emulate.

I would like us to be able to settle in New Zealand or Australia and will have sufficient passive income, so that we can afford to reach out to people who needs help. I dream that Sherene and myself can use our life experiences to help others.

I would also like to be able to continue with ANZ or any financial institutions that I can contribute and learn. I know God has big plans for me and my family. I don't know where they are going to be but I like to believe it is either in New Zealand or Australia.

Lord, in Jesus name, I commit these dreams of mine into your hands. Thank you Lord for all that happened.

Driving in Malaysia

Malaysians like most commonwealth countries follow the British driving on the left side of the road on right handed drive vehicles. However, some seemingly lacking fact is that most Malaysian drivers seems to not the Right of Way rule.

Right of Way rule as I learned is that you give way to the vehicle coming from the right or parked to your right. At a roundabout, you let the car coming from the right to go first. When you and the car to your right are coming out of parking, you let the car to your right go first. This, however, does not apply to t-junction when the vehicle from the left to turn first before you turn right.

So, Malaysian drivers, please give way to the car to your right.

Jesus is the center of all

The recent raid by the Selangor Religious on the Bible Society of Malaysia (BSM) highlights a few key points:

1. The strong influence Jesus and Christianity has on Malaysia. The more noise these Islamic fellas made noise by the Allah issue, and as long as Christians keep still and know who God is, then truly the name of Jesus and his kingdom will certainly be exalted in this country.
2. Christians are now more united than ever in Malaysia and the South China Sea which divided the congregations of East and Peninsula Malaysia has now replaced by the unity in the body of Christ
3. Curiosity of Christianity will raise - all these noise about who can and cannot use Allah will certainly made more people curious about Jesus and his teachings.

So I believe in the end, God wins!

Going back to the land of the long white cloud!

On December 2, I am heading back to New Zealand for almost 2 weeks, mainly for work and I hope to catch up with some friends but more importantly to get myself and the family connected with this beautiful country named New Zealand.

It is indeed a land of new beginning, hope and friends. It is here I discovered the true meaning of walking by faith. It is here I truly learned to appreciate Hebrews 11:1 - faith is being confidence of what we hope for and sure of what we do not see. Looking back, those were indeed challenging but I thanks God for my wife and children who stood by and believe in the dreams we were pursuing for even though it did looked like we running away from failures and disappoint.

In Proverbs, the author said a man reaps what he sows on flesh, is really true. It also said that in God there is redemption and I thank God came looking for and after us. I pray every day that our 2 children will grow up to know God and will received Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.

I thank God the people He has brought into our lives regardless of the conditions and experience we have with them. For those we offended, we learned how not to be arrogant and be patience and we offer our sincere apology. For those that have hurt us, we prayed each day that we would have God's grace to forgive them.

The next 2 weeks in New Zealand will give me a chance to give back to both my birth country Malaysia and my adopted country New Zealand. I pray that God have granted me the wisdom and words to speak about the positives points of these 2 countries. Although separated by 10 hours of flight time, there is so much similarity between the 2 nations.

Both countries have indigenous people, migrants that have built the economy, have rich natural resources and fertile agriculture land. What sets the countries apart though administratively and morality is how each is governed.

Looking forward for time with God, friends and making new acquaintances.

Religion and Politics

What do you get when you mixed religion and politics? Racial division!

Gone to Beijing

Our eldest daugther, Valerie, left for Beijing yesterday evening for her class trip. This is the first time she is traveling overseas without us. In some way, I am proud that she is brave enough to want to go for the trip but on the other hand, I miss her and realized that some day soon, she is going to be walking life journey without us. It is my sincere prayer that she would learn from this trip - both from a historical and independence perspectives. Valerie is a confident child and she knows about a year ago what she likes, don't like and what she wants to be. I am amazed how loyal she can be for her friends and with her friends. There are many occasions that we know she was disappointed by her peers but never once she complains about her friends' attitude towards her.

They said adult can learned a lot from a child and I believe that's very true. Valerie, my dear daugther, I want you to know you have taught papa so much in the last 5 years. Have a great time in Beijing.
